Biography

Ustadh Halim entered Islam in 1996 and began studying with Sheikh Khalil Majdalawi (May God envelop him in His mercy) in 1998, entering his formal studies with him in the following year. He studied with him for over a decade as a private student. On May 25, 2007 the Sheikh granted him permission to call to Islam and to teach its sciences. Several years later, on June 23, 2010, he received license by the Sheikh to serve as a guide on the path of Tasawwuf. Later still, in 2016 Sheikh Khalil named him as his Khalifah in the path of the Naqshbandiyyah Kuftarowiyyah as he learned it from his Sheikh, Sheikh Ahmad Kuftaro who took it from his father, Sheikh Muhammad Amin who took it from Sheikh Muhammad Amin Al-Kurdi Dhi-z-Zamlakaani.

The primary characteristic of this path is joining our faith with our reason, balancing the inward and outward and remembering Allah unceasingly on our limbs, on our tongues, and in our characters — after being well rooted in the hearts.

With this, Ustadh Halim also traveled to Syria, familiarizing himself with the Arabic language at Jami‘a Abu Nur. He was also honored to travel to Morocco and Malaysia to sit with senior scholars of Hadith and take directly from them. He studied with many prominent scholars including Sheikh Al-Hassan Al-Kettani and Sheikh Muhammad Daniel amongst others at the Córdoba Academy for Classical Islamic Studies where he was honored to be the first to graduate the Hafidh Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani Hadith program receiving license to teach their Hadith curriculum and then later, graduating their Seerah and Adab diploma course.

He has been honored to meet with and receive licenses in the classic texts of the sacred sciences from prominent scholars of our time. Having received Ijaaza Tadrees (a license to teach) from his teachers and holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies and a Doctorate in the Philosophy of Religion.

Along with his academic accomplishments, he is also an artist, a martial artist, a public speaker and a writer.

Ustadh Halim serves in his local community of Baltimore, Md. (USA) where he continues to reside with his wife and children.
